Our quail returned with his growing babies. We have a bird feeder, and they like to pick up scraps from underneath. He's quite a protective father; he lunges at any of the Mourning Doves that get too close while they eat. Even the little quail show signs of being that way. They do the same thing to the doves that are triple their size. Last time I saw the young quail, they couldn't fly at all. This time they were able to fly to the top of the wall.
I'm enjoying all my excess of free time this summer so I have a chance to catch a glimpse of all our outdoor visitors.
